The government has extended the last date for ration card e-KYC from March 31 to May 31, providing relief to blue ration card holders. This extension ensures that beneficiaries can continue availing free wheat by completing their e-KYC.
Complete e-KYC to Avoid Wheat Supply Disruption
Although an additional month has been given, beneficiaries must complete their e-KYC on time. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of wheat distribution from the next quota. So far, e-KYC has been completed for 1.17 crore out of 1.55 crore beneficiaries across Punjab. In Pathankot district, including Jugyal, Taragarh, Narot Jaimal Singh, and Sujanpur, there are a total of 1,02,600 blue ration card holders.
Pathankot Leads in e-KYC Completion
District Food Supply Controller Rajshree Mehra stated that 82.37% of blue ration card holders in the district have completed their e-KYC. Pathankot currently holds the second position in Punjab for e-KYC completion. To expedite the process, dedicated camps have been set up in Pathankot, Bhoa, and Sujanpur. A total of 20 camps have been organized so far.
Assistant District Food Supply Controller Ajay Prinj confirmed that the deadline was initially set for March 31 but has now been extended to May 31 by the Central Government.
Wheat Supply Issues at Depots
Out of 542 depots in the district, around 35 depots have not received the wheat quota for January, February, and March. Depot Holders Association President Ram Pal Mahajan highlighted the issue of delayed wheat supply, causing beneficiaries to return empty-handed. However, district food supply officials assured that wheat trucks have been ordered to address the shortage.
Wheat Trucks Ordered to Resolve Shortage
To overcome supply disruptions, ADFSO Ajay Prinj confirmed that 20 wheat trucks have been dispatched from Jalandhar. These trucks will soon deliver wheat to the respective depots, ensuring that beneficiaries receive their ration without further delays.
Beneficiaries are advised to complete their e-KYC before May 31 to avoid any inconvenience and ensure a smooth wheat distribution process.
