latest traffic updates

Dwarka Expressway Closure

The entry point to Delhi on the Dwarka Expressway at Daulatabad Chowk is closed for 44 days, starting from March 19, 2025, due to essential expansion joint replacement work. This closure affects commuters from Gurugram’s Sectors 99 to 106 and nearby areas. Travelers are advised to use alternative routes via surface roads to rejoin the expressway beyond the Bijwasan toll plaza, which may increase travel time.

Damaged Roads Causing Congestion

A recent report by the Gurugram traffic police indicates that over 60 roads in the city have potholes ranging from 1 to 2 feet in depth, requiring urgent repairs. These deteriorated road conditions are leading to traffic jams and pose a risk of accidents. Notable affected areas include the stretch from Rezang La Chowk to the T-point of Sectors 21 and 22, Rao Gajraj Singh Marg, and roads near Atul Kataria Chowk.

Traffic Enforcement During Holi

During the recent Holi festivities, the Gurugram traffic police issued 693 challans to traffic violators, imposing fines totaling over ₹8 lakh. To maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic management during the celebrations, 62 additional checkpoints were established across the city.

New Traffic Rule Enforcement

The Gurugram Traffic Police has introduced a new rule requiring drivers to pay fines for traffic violations within 90 days. Failure to do so will result in the detention of the vehicle. This measure aims to address the backlog of pending challans, which amounted to over ₹50 crore in the past 12 months.

Upcoming Infrastructure Developments

Gurugram’s infrastructure is set for a significant transformation with plans to construct five new flyovers and elevated roads over the next five years, with an investment exceeding ₹1,300 crore. These projects aim to alleviate chronic traffic congestion along key routes like the Southern Peripheral Road and improve connectivity between major expressways, including the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Dwarka Expressway.
